Sometimes it's so nice to just let your kids zone out in front of the TV. I try not to let it happen often but there are days when a zoned out child is a better option than a mental case parent.

Well said. Before we had kids, I was adament that we would not use the TV as a babysitter. Of course it's easier to be dogmatic about these things before you actually experience them.
