Beaner!

This is a special post about a special friend of mine who has recently started her own Blog. You can check it out here. Or you can click on Shareen under my links section. Shareen, more affectionately known as Beaner, Bean, Shabeef, etc. is one of my oldest, (not in age but in longevity) friends. Shareen and I have been friends for many years. Since junior high school even! We played flute together in band. We played the same position in volleyball (only she got more playing time cuz she better and taller). My brother had a crush on her. We lived together in Edmonton and she even stood up for me at my wedding as my maid of honor. Shareen and I have seen many different seasons and our relationship has shifted and changed over the years as we'ved lived together and then apart and our lives have taken different paths. But, Shareen has and always will be one of my most faithful and cherished friends.

I don't think I've ever laughed as much as I did when we lived together. And when I say we lived together. We didn't just share an appartment we shared a room. As the only available appartment at the time was a one bedroom appartment. We shared clothes, make up, music, movies. We'd walk to the mac's store in minus thirty below to get slurpees. We'd walk to safeway to pick up "a few things" and end up walking back eight blocks to our appartment with twenty bags each. The picture of Shareen at the gas pump is an example of "the perfect pump." She'd set the little latch on the pump so she didn't have to hold it and it stopped on it's own at twenty four dollars even! Well, we thought it was amazing. The other picture is of Shareen having her hair highlighted right after we pulled her hair thru the cap and yes, she is biting her toenails. That one's for you Craig! She's just lucky I didn't post the picture I have of her sitting on the can doin her business. Needless to say we've had our share of joy, tears and laughter.

I miss you Shareen and your generous spirit. You are a treasure to all who meet you!

Christy that is SO not fair! I go and get a blog and then WHAMMO I get blog-blindsided by those hideous photos (I may have nightmares from the toenail biting one...oh the horrors). But seriously, thank you for your wonderful words...I miss you, but feel as if I know what's going on because you are so faitful with your blog. I hope I can be even half as good.
