A new experience for us.

As you can see it's either feast or famine here with me and my blog. Ususally there's a direct correlation to the amount of new pictures I have on hand. These were taken at the local park yesterday just before Megan fell from the "big yellow slide" onto her little foot. She was trying to get down fast to pet some puppies. I fear she may have broken it. She has been refusing to walk on it all yesterday and even now this morning. I took her in yesterday to see her doctor and he doesn't seem to think it's broken But, he also said if she's not walking on it a few days that she'd need an x-ray.
I gotta say, this immobile Megan is an entirely new thing for me. She's pretty much been a very fast mover since the day she was born. Except for that month this past winter she was really sick. But other than that she has been going top speed her entire two and half years of life. And the frustrating thing for her is that she WANTS to be moving but if she tries she buckles down and cries and cries that she "can't walk mommy". We were at Nathan's birthday party last night and it was very strange to see her not running around with the rest of the kids but sitting on the grass fiddling with a few baby toys. She did manage to belly crawl a bit dragging her legs behind her. It was sad to witness. Made me think of one of those lame dogs like the one from "Babe-Pig in the City" who has that little two wheeled contraption where his two lame legs sit and he paws around using just his two front legs. Maybe we'll have to make one of those for her. My mom seems to think it would help her to be cast so she doesn't keep bumping it. And then she can walk if she wants to.

My poor heart almost snapped in two to see her in such agony right after she fell. And in truth, it's no surprise that it happened. The girl is MUCH too daring when it comes to playgrounds. She climbs in ways that alot of five year olds don't. I figured when the inevitable happened and she fell, I'd scoop her up in a "serves you right, you crazy child" sort of way. Now will you PLEASE stop climbing for pete's sake.?! But, i didn't. I wished I could take the pain away and carry it myself. She begged me to take her home (which she NEVER does), and get her a bandaid. Because, don't you know, that bandaids take the owwie away. She's never clutched me so fervently or looked at me so pleadingly. And there wasn't anything I could do. My poor baby.

Well, one positive side is that maybe this week I won't end up chasing my escaped child into the Tim Hortons parking lot (directly beside our townhouses) in my housecoat for all those with their large double doubles in the drive through to see. Thank you Megan for keeping me humble in those moments.

It's SO WEIRD to see her just sit there. I'm really praying it heals fast!

Poor Meggie! I hope she's back to her usual rebel-rousing self in no time. And also? I have the best mental picture EVER of you in Timmy Ho's in your housecoat, with a sweet case of bedhead and that angry mom look in your eyes. Awesome. :)

Ohh Megs. Silly girl. But you're right she is one crazy nut on the playground. I seriously think that there is something wrong with the doctors there. Why wouldn't they take an x-ray and rule out the possibility of it being broken. What happens if in a week you find out it is broken and poor Megan could have been getting better if some lazy doctor only did his job. And no I don't think I'm overreacting, that's my neice!
