Crotch candy anyone?

My daughter is SUCH a little stinker. Since being here at Gramma and Grampa's house little Maggie has been a major sweetheart (for the most part). Hardly any tantrums or testing the limits. She's been listening and playing nice with her brother. Yay she's growing up! AND she's nearly completely potty trained. Nearly two weeks in panties with only a handful of minor accidents. BIG GIRL!!

However...

The last few days have been a WEE bit more of a challenge with this little monkey. She's getting into things she knows she shouldn't and has been throwing fits here and there trying to manipulate us. Yesterday she didn't wanna come inside from jusmping on the trampoline and so she just stood on the deck and screamed for about five minutes. Then she came inside completely happy ready for her hot chocolate. My mom reminded me that this was a major battle won. Yay me for not caving.

Then today was the day of the peppermint. My parents, being of pure dutch heritage, love to suck the occaisional little white peppermint. And therefore there's a few stashes of them scattered throughout the house. One being on the top shelf of a little ladder shelf display in my parents bedroom. My mom gave each of the kids one this morning because she loves them and that's what good Grandparents do-spoil their grandkids. After that Megan knew where they were and decided she wanted more despite the fact that Gramma said NO MORE!

A few minutes later my mom saw Megan walking around carrying her sock in her hand. Lo behold a major stach of peppermints-IN THE SOCK. Again about fifteen minutes later Megan is walking around sort of oddly with a wide stance. Why? Because she had a stash of peppermints hiding in the crotch of her panties that's why. I'm not kidding. Then again a while later Megan was walking around looking quite a chipmunk, cheeks a bulging with...a large amount of peppermints stashed in each cheek. It was at this point she recieved a firm swat on the bum and didn't even fight it.

Ah what a goofball. I am quite amazed at her ingenuity though. She's smart and obviously persistent. I don't look forward to the inevitable days with a baby at my breast and a headstrong little girl doing everything in her power to disobey me. I know they will come I just hope I'm ready for it.

I've also been amazed at what little "parent" my son has become. He knows all the rules and does everything in his power to ensure that they are enforced. Sometimes I'll think that Ben is pestering Megan when I hear her screaming but if I stop and watch them for a bit he's just trying to get her to listen to him and obey the rules. It's quite something to hear myself in my son as he attempts to discipline her. I wonder how long before she figures out her has little or no authority over her. At least I'll have some help with the stinker after baby comes. Ben and I can tag team parent. :)

Hope you all had a great Canadian Thanksgiving!
